1. Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive

📍 Southeast WI (115 miles)
Winding through glacial hills, hardwood forests, and lakes, this route passes through Kettle Moraine State Forest. It’s one of the most famous fall drives in the state.


2. Great River Road (Highway 35)

📍 Western WI along the Mississippi River
This National Scenic Byway offers breathtaking bluffs and charming river towns like Pepin and Alma. Expect stunning overlooks and cozy cafes.


3. Highway 42 – Door County Peninsula

📍 Sturgeon Bay to Northport Pier

4. Blue Hills Scenic Byway

📍 Rusk County

5. Northern Highland–American Legion State Forest

📍 Minocqua & Boulder Junction area
Drive through vast forests full of maple, oak, and birch trees. The colors are bold, and the lakes reflect every shade—perfect for photos.


6. Hayward Lakes Circle Route

📍 Sawyer County
Take a relaxing drive around the Hayward Lakes region, passing serene lakes, forested backroads, and quaint towns. Bonus: You’re near some of the best land for sale in the Northwoods.


7. Black River State Forest & Clark County Forest Loop

📍 Near Black River Falls
This scenic loop is packed with pine, oak, and maple. A peaceful drive for spotting wildlife and vibrant fall color—especially in late September to early October.


8. Highway 60 Scenic Byway – Lower Wisconsin River Road

📍 Lodi to Prairie du Chien
This route follows the Wisconsin River through sandstone bluffs and colorful woodlands. It’s especially scenic around Ferry Bluff and Tower Hill State Park.


9. Trempealeau County Rustic Roads

📍 Western WI
Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads Program shines in Trempealeau County. These narrow, tree-canopied roads offer unforgettable foliage and peaceful farm country views.


10. Hwy 77 – Mellen to Hurley (Gogebic Range Drive)

📍 North Wisconsin near Lake Superior
This drive runs through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and features deep reds and golds during peak season. Don’t miss Copper Falls State Park along the way.


11. Chippewa County Scenic Drive

📍 Northwest WI
A mix of river valleys, forestland, and scenic overlooks. This region near the Chippewa River is perfect for a slow, colorful cruise.

Peak color usually hits late September to mid-October, depending on the region. Northern areas like Sawyer County peak first, followed by central and southern Wisconsin.
